Nostalgia

Toonami is back, apparently; it is one of the better things I remember of my childhood, or rather, right about where my memory of childhood begins.

Earlier today I played Kirby 64- one of my favorite games in existence. Then, Toonami came back after, playing shows from back when I was watching it. Gundam Wing, Tenchi Muyo, Outlaw Star, even Dragon Ball Z. They played bumps as well (see here). Needless to say, I bathed in Nostalgia- but with the extra additive of unedited versions, newer commentary, and the “adult” perspective I have now gained with time (adult being in quotations because, heh, like I’m an adult in my mind.)

I realized… these certain shows, various music found in them, ideas, vibes, and settings- these really shaped a lot of my tastes early on, they really had a set place in the core of my personality. That’s not saying that I didn’t have a personality before… but when my head was elsewhere, it was in space- I can thank shows like Gundam and Outlaw Star for that. What songs were stuck in my head? Aside from Zelda/Final Fantasy soundtracks, this.

I don’t know what this post is about… other than I feel like I just went back in time and said hello to myself. Nerd to the core I guess. But wouldn’t you know? I feel better. Things got better. And lucky me, my horizons expanded a bit.

Whoever decided it would be a good idea to air the lineup they did tonight starting at 12:00am I would love to personally thank. You let me meet 10-year-old me. And for once, I didn’t hate that me.
